Professional Networking at the Chamber

Networking’s not about sales pitches, door prizes, and card spamming ... it’s about making real connections and growing yourself and your business. Think of it like farming – you plant, nurture, and grow. Experience Networking Magic at the Chamber. Read our our networking guidelines below.

Experience the Chamber Difference: Professional Networking Code

At the Chamber, we believe that networking is not about sales pitches, door prizes, or card spamming. It’s about forging genuine connections and fostering personal and professional growth. Think of networking as a farming process: you plant seeds, nurture them, and watch them grow.

How to Network at Chamber Events: The Code

We advocate for a collaborative, respectful, and professional networking environment. By participating in Chamber networking events, you commit to upholding our Chamber Networking Code, ensuring that all interactions are conducted with professionalism, respect, and integrity.

Key Principles for Effective Networking:

  • Cultivating Connections Beyond the Pitch: Networking is about building lasting relationships that benefit all parties. Focus on understanding and supporting the aspirations of those you meet rather than delivering a sales pitch.
  • Understanding the Essence of a Network: True networking is not about the number of contacts you accumulate; it’s about the depth of your connections. Aim to create a supportive network that aligns with your goals.
  • Engage, Don’t Overwhelm: Instead of distributing business cards indiscriminately, engage in meaningful conversations. Exchange contact information only when a genuine connection is established.
  • Foster Friendships, Not Contacts: Approach networking with warmth and sincerity. This genuine demeanor encourages reciprocal engagement and fosters respectful exchanges.
  • Quality Over Quantity: Seek out individuals who resonate with your vision and values. Prioritize meaningful interactions and nurture these relationships beyond the event.
  • Inquire with Intent: Start conversations with thoughtful questions that show your interest in the other person’s perspective. This lays the groundwork for lasting relationships.
  • Join the Dialogue: Don’t hesitate to introduce yourself and contribute to discussions you encounter. Your thoughtful participation enriches the networking experience.
  • Reciprocal Networks: View the networks of others as extensions of your own. Offer your support to help them achieve their goals, creating a mutually beneficial dynamic.
  • The Art of Giving and Receiving: Networking is a two-way street. Be as eager to offer assistance as you are to seek it. Generosity fosters a culture of support.

No Predatory Practices

We are committed to maintaining a collaborative and respectful networking environment. Adherence to these guidelines is essential; violations may result in immediate removal from the event. Predatory practices include, but are not limited to, card spamming, incessant sales pitches, and unsolicited promotional material distribution. The Chamber reserves the right to take necessary actions against individuals displaying predatory behavior, including contacting law enforcement or issuing a formal cease and desist order. We encourage all attendees to report any suspicious activity to Chamber staff for prompt action.
